There's a sanguine, old-school feel to this red, with cured meat, balsamic and tapenade notes surrounding the core of red berries and earth. With a harmonious texture and some concentration for the lean vintage, this offers hints of cinnamon and mesquite smoke on the medium finish, supported by saline mineral details. Dark and brooding, with richness to the black plum and cherry flavors edged with bacon. Creamy and svelte on the palate, this shows polish, with cardamom, allspice and aniseed adding detail, backed by a thread of singed mesquite.
